AES High Pressure Fittings

Fittings were developed based upon standard stainless steel O-ring seal-faced hydraulic fittings which are readily available. The fittings are nominally rated at 1000 to 6000 psi depending upon size. The fittings have the male and female portion metal-to-metal with an O-ring or flat gasket in between. The O-ring or flat I-type gasket is compressed to the point it provides the seal. The pressure of the product is transferred to the O-ring or I-type gasket. The gasket is contained by the metal in the body portion of the fittings. The greater the pressure against the seal, the greater the sealing force.

In many processing systems, transfer of the product is with a piston pump. The pump will develop various pressures as the pistons move IN and OUT. An attempt to minimize this is made by overlapping the discharge of the pistons or through mechanical means, e.g., pulsation dampeners. However, pulsations and vibrations still occur. In fittings, the resilient seal absorbs these vibrations and results in less fatigue and longer wear of the stainless steel metallic components of the system.
